Rose
To love without choosing a side.
In love with Émile and deeply attached to her brother Tom, Rose refuses to let flags decide her feelings.
Story & Characters
On the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, no one has given up on tomorrow. In the inns, people sing, bicker and put the world to rights. Friendships form, witty remarks fly and love grows complicated. Life brims over, even beneath the uniforms.
Rose and Émile want to believe their love is enough. But the coming battle threatens to bring the two men who matter most to her face to face: the man she loves and her brother, Tom.
How do you stay true to your own when your heart draws you to the other side?
Around them, Alistair and his bagpipes, Joséphine, Rosemary and Otto make up a company of strong personalities. There are firm friendships, lively exchanges and a surgeon whose wit can be as sharp as his instruments. Even as danger approaches, no one seems ready to let anyone else have the last word.
But time is running out. Soon, promises will be put to the test. They will have to choose whose hand to reach for… and perhaps find the courage to let it go.
They know the battle is coming. They do not yet know what it will ask of them.
Through songs in French and English, Waterloo — The Musical invites you to laugh with its characters, grow fond of their foibles and hope for them. Then, in a song or a simple gesture, you may find yourself holding back a tear.
Because once they have made you laugh, their fate will matter to you.
History knows how the battle ends. But how will their stories end?

To love without choosing a side.
In love with Émile and deeply attached to her brother Tom, Rose refuses to let flags decide her feelings.

Love on the other side of the border.
A Frenchman in love with an Englishwoman, Émile is at the heart of a story where feelings collide with loyalties.

A brother. A friend. A man behind the uniform.
Rose’s brother and Alistair’s friend, Tom is one of those men for whom personal bonds matter as much as convictions. His glasses and thoughtful gaze give him a presence all his own.

Heart, character… and bagpipes.
A warm-hearted Scotsman, Alistair brings his music and friendship to the adventure. Behind the kilt and bagpipes is a man you can count on.

An immaculate moustache. A surgical wit.
A Prussian surgeon, Otto treats his patients with confidence and teases them with an utterly straight face. Enough to raise a smile… even from a slightly nervous patient.
